Weighing
What is Weighing?
Weighing is the first and most critical step in moving your crop or mineral products accurately, quickly and without waste. From the field or processing line into bags, boxes nets or trays. Agrimech’s range of weighing systems handles potatoes, onions, carrots and other root crops, as well as minerals such as charcoal and a wide range of agricultural, food and industrial products.
Built to weigh products to within grams, Agrimech systems prepare them efficiently for bagging, boxing or palletizing. Manufactured in-house from durable stainless steel, each machine delivers reliable performance helping to minimise servicing costs, product waste and downtime.

Our Weighing Range
Multi-Head Weighers
For precision at speed, our multi-head weighers use multiple combination weighing heads calculating the most accurate target weight every time, with minimal giveaway. It's the right choice when you require high speed accurate weighing of your products. The range covers everything from small retail packs to bulk sacks.
It's the right method for whole, irregularly-shaped crops including:
- potatoes
- onions
- carrots
- parsnips
- beetroot
- animal feed
- charcoal
* similar loose produce where no two pieces weigh quite the same, so weighing by volume alone isn't accurate enough.

Hydra: High Speed Multi-Head Weighing System.
10/14 combination weighing heads. 10 x 25kg/50lb weighments per minute, accurate within 2g. Built for large crop samples.

Typhon 8: High Speed Multi-Head Weighing System.
8 combination weighing heads. 30 x 2kg/5lb weighments per minute, accurate within 2g. Built for smaller crop samples.

Typhon 16: High Speed Multi-Head Weighing System.
16 combination weighing heads, cross belt double discharge. 60 x 2kg/5lb weighments per minute, accurate within 2g. Built for smaller crop samples.
Bin Weighers
Designed to handle large crop or product samples, the bin weigher’s purpose-built gripper head and cleated feeding belts allow products to pass quickly and efficiently into the pack. It is ideal for weighing larger pack formats, such as 25kg or 50lb bags, where dependable accuracy and reliable performance. With a straightforward, robust design, it offers a cost-effective solution for businesses that do not require the higher speeds or precision of a multi-head system.

Gemini: Double Head Bin Weighing System
13.5 tonnes/hour, 9 x 25kg/50lb bags or boxes per minute.

Themis: Single Bin Weighing System
7 x 25kg/50lb bags or boxes per minute. Integrated forklift tubes for easy repositioning.
In-Bag Weighing
For lighter-duty runs, Destiny weighs directly into the bag a simpler, lower-throughput system built for smaller operations, shorter runs, or secondary packing lines that don't need the volume of a full bin weigher. It handles the same core crops as the rest of the range but is built around paper sacks, plastic bags and poly-banded net, running 4.5 x 25kg paper sacks a minute at 7 tonnes an hour a practical entry point for a smaller packhouse or a seasonal line that can't justify a Gemini or Themis.

Light Duty In-bag Weighing System
7 tonnes/hour, 4.5 x 25kg paper sacks per minute.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a multi-head weigher and a bin weigher?
A multi-head weigher uses several combination weighing heads. Each drops a small amount of product, and the machine combines those drops to hit the most accurate target weight with minimal giveaway, whilst working at high speeds. A bin weigher uses a gripper head and a cleated feeding belt to make a single drop. It's not as fast as a multi-head and the giveaway relates to the size of the product but offers accurate weighing and is a cost effective option for larger samples.
How accurate are your weighing systems?
Our multi-head weighers (Hydra, Typhon 8 and Typhon 16) are accurate to within 2g per weighment. That keeps giveaway to a minimum and helps you stay compliant on pack weights.
What products can your weighers handle?
Our weighing systems are built for a wide range of products, including potatoes, onions, carrots, parsnips, beetroot and cabbage, animal feed, aggregates, minerals and similar loose produce. If your product isn't listed, get in touch. Many of our machines can be configured for other products.
How fast are your weighing systems?
Speeds range across the line-up:
- Typhon 16: up to 60 x 2kg/5lb weighments per minute
- Typhon 8: 30 x 2kg/5lb weighments per minute
- Hydra: 10 x 25kg/50lb weighments per minute
- Gemini: 9 x 25kg bags or boxes per minute (13.5 tonnes/hour)
- Themis: 7 x 25kg bags or boxes per minute (10.5 tonnes/hour)
- Destiny: 4.5 x 25kg paper sacks per minute (7 tonnes/hour)
What's the best weighing system for potatoes?
It depends on the pack size you're filling:
- Retail packs (2kg/5lb bags for supermarkets): a multi-head weigher like Typhon 8 or Typhon 16. They combine several small drops to hit the target weight to within 2g, which matters with potatoes because no two weigh the same.
- 5-25kg of larger potatoes: Hydra, with the same multi-head precision, high speed
- Large crop samples into 25kg bags or boxes: a bin weigher. Our double bin Gemini runs up to 13.5 tonnes an hour, or our single bin Themis runs at up to 10.5 tonnes per hour
- Smaller operations or seasonal lines: Destiny weighs straight into paper sacks, plastic bags or net.
All our potato weighing systems are built in-house in stainless steel to handle a full season on the grading line. Tell us your variety, pack format and target speed, and we'll recommend the right machine.
Can your weighers work with my existing packing line?
Yes. Our weighers are designed to feed straight into bagging, stitching, placing and palletising equipment, including our own range. Tell us what's already on your line and our engineers will advise on integration.
Are your weighing systems built in the UK?
Yes. Every Agrimech weigher is designed and built in-house in the UK, in stainless steel, so it can run all season with minimal downtime.
What support do you offer after installation?
Every machine is backed by our Agri Care and Agri Link support services. Our Agri Link service provides remote support either online or on the phone to our Engineers, wherever you are in the world without the need for an engineers visit reducing downtime and minimal disruption. Our Agri Care service provides a fixed fee to annually service your machinery to ensure optimum performance.
Not Sure Which Weigher Is Right for You?
